The body of this gooseneck is now injection moulded rather than moulded in carbon. This method of manufacture enables detail design that permits simpler bearings and boom end fitting to be used. Designed to fit 14 mm carbon tube and to rotate concentrically around the mast axis this item is ideal for use on the SAILSetc Marblehead and Ten Rater. Use item 12c for flat decked boats.
Strictly speaking this is not a new item but it is now revised to facilitate use. This is the gooseneck/kicking strap unit that has been used on all SAILSetc Marblehead and 10 Raters over the last decade or so. It is also used on many other boats now. The boom end is now an injection moulded glass filled plastic piece into which the 14 mm diameter boom is a push fit. The boom is a simple piece of 14 mm carbon tube requiring no special bonding. If necessary to prevent the boom from rotating under load it can be locked in place using a small self-tapping screw. downloadable drawing
